A Happy Mother's Day

What does every mother want for Mother's Day?
Pictures of her loved ones, of course.
So this year, Kay-Kay and I got the perfect Mother's Day gift- a portrait session with one of Saint Louis' best photographers, Mrs. Kelly Park.
We got some fun family pictures and some incredible portraits of the boys.
They say a picture says a thousand words, so I'll let these pictures speak for themselves.

Thanks Kelly for some great memories!!!

My Rough Tough Boys

Yep, that's right you're looking at a shiner.
I am sad to say that at the moment both of my boys have black eyes.
But that hasn't slowed us down any. We are still making time to visit Ronald McDonald and enjoy a little ice cream.
Joshua Stephen got his black eye while he was playing at the Botanical Gardens with Dad. They were examining a tree stump exhibit, when Joshua Stephen got a little too close and Bonked his eye.
(Thankfully his shiner is a little harder to see until he closes his eye.)
Here's a good view of Caleb's first little black eye. We're not really sure how it happened. All we know is that the boys we're happily playing together, with Caleb laughing hysterically. Next thing we knew Caleb is crying and Big Brother doesn't know what has happened. We figure Caleb either got hit in the eye with one of the small animals the boys were playing with, or he bumped his face on a piece of furniture.
I am sure this will be the first of many battle scars for Caleb.
Here's my Rough and Tough boys.
Also known as Bruiser Bear (Joshua Stephen) and my Little Black Eyed Pea (Caleb).
One things for sure, these boys like to live life on the edge and keep Mom on her toes.

A Super Party for A Super Boy!!!

Well, it's hard to believe that my little boy is THREE years old!
To celebrate this Big occasion we had a Super Man Birthday party!!!
Here's the Super Boy posing just like his Super Hero.
We invited all of our friends to come dressed as their favorite Super Heroes.
Joshua Stephen eager for the party to begin.
Paw-Paw Kenny and Kay-Kay came in town just to celebrate Joshua Stephen's Birthday with us. I think they may have been Joshua Stephen's favorite Birthday present. He just couldn't wait for them to arrive. It was so fun to have them at the party and they were such a big help with all of the behind the scene details.
A fun friend specially made Joshua Stephen's Birthday cake, and it was simply delicious!
Here's our Big Guy blowing out his Birthday candle.
Enjoying some cake with his friends.

Our festive crowd chowing down on some Birthday cake.
The day was filled with lots of games.
Like seeing who could keep Super Man (the bop bag) down the longest.
My favorite- The Super Man pinata. Never a dull moment when you give little ones a bat and encourage them to swing it in the air until they see candy flying.
Pin the S on Super Man.
And of course, there were presents. And ohhh, so many of them!
Thanks to all of our Sweet friends!!!
The gift Joshua Stephen had been longing for....... A Light Saber.
We got him a set of two Light Sabers so that he will always be able to battle a friend on the playground (just like the Big kids do).

It's in the Mail

Today was a wet and dreary day, and I had the dreaded task of visiting the post office. Anyone with small children can tell you that visiting the post office with little ones in tow is usually not a very fun task. For some reason children seem to go stir crazy as you are standing in line patiently waiting for your number to be called. But today we decided to make the post office fun. I let my two little helpers come to my aid by putting all of our letters into the mailbox for me. All the while the mailbox was talking to us (in a voice that sounded somewhat similar to "silly Mommy") saying "I'm so hungry, feed me some mail".
It was quite a stretch, but Joshua Stephen proved that he has what it takes to be a postman extraordinaire.
Here's Caleb supervising his brother's work. He can give some pretty intimidating looks if your work is not up to snuff.
I am happy to report that thanks to my little helpers we got our Mother's Day cards and over a hundred prayer letters in the mail today. And we even got to help a couple of other friendly people put some of their letters in the mail too. One sweet lady told Joshua Stephen that she hoped he would be there next time to help her with all of her postage needs.
Way to go my Little Postmen!!!

Caleb's First Haircut

Our sweet little Caleb is growing up. So we decided it was time to get him his first haircut.
Here he is before the Big haircut.
As you can see he was starting to look a little shaggy.
Look at those cheeks. Could he be any cuter?!?!
What is she doing?
I think she wants to play?
Let's see if she can keep up with me. How quick can she move?
I guess I'll hold still long enough for Mom to snap a few pictures.
Here's our clean cut little man with a big sugar cookie to celebrate his first Big Boy haircut.

It is so bittersweet for me to watch my little ones grow up. I just love the baby and toddler stages when everything is new and exciting for them. While I do love celebrating each of their accomplishments and discoveries along the way, it is sad for me to know that they will never be this little again. I just love bing able to snuggle them and make em' giggle. All this keeps me cherishing each day of their precious little childhood. I feel so blessed to get spend my days with these precious little men!!!
