Little Ellie

While we were at the Dallas Zoo, Joshua Stephen made friends with this little elephant, who was just his size.
He liked him so much he thought he'd go for a ride.
Thankfully the little ellie didn't mind one bit.

Caleb's First Birthday

This year we are very excited that we got to celebrate Caleb's first Birthday with our Kay-Kay!!!
What makes June 5 so special is that both Caleb and Kay-Kay were born on that day. And this year we got to celebrate a milestone Birthday for each of them.
Caleb turned One and Kay-Kay turned Sixty (and she looks simply radiant).
Our happy little family!
Look at the boys eying that cake.
It's so much fun to celebrate our Caleb!!!

Singing Happy Birthday to our Birthday Buddies.
Blowing out the Birthday candles.

Oh No- I forgot a gift for Kay-Kay.
Wait, wait, wait- I'm Kay-Kay's favorite gift.
(A silly picture I snapped during Caleb's Birthday dinner. )
Caleb hanging out with his cousins Daniel and Tara.
It was so fun to get to spend time with our Poppa-Poppa.
Caleb opening his presents.
Since Caleb is a man on the move, we decided to put him, along with all of his gifts, into his wagon and then let him have at it. (We like to call that using a containment unit to our advantage.)
Big Brother was so helpful and offered to try out all of Caleb's new toys for him.
Caleb tearing into a present.
A happy little Birthday boy ready to enjoy his presents.

First Birthday Cake

Caleb with his very First Birthday Cake.
We had a Winnie the Pooh theme for his birthday cake and party.

Caleb all clean and ready for his first slice of birthday cake.
Ready to dive in,
with both hands
and enjoy some chocolate cake.

What is this fork for?
What are you looking at?
I wonder if there is any cake hiding under this plate?
Look Mom, I made a mess.
Our happy little Birthday boy!!!
(I think he likes cake.)

Let the celebration begin

To start off Caleb's Birthday we took him to a fun pizza place where we could play games and Par-tay.
Here he is with his first Birthday hat. He liked it so much we had to get two.
The adorable Birthday boy!
Our Sweet cousin Tara joined us for all of the birthday fun.
(Joshua Stephen looks super excited in this photo, but despite his appearance he had a great time celebrating with his little brother.)
The boys on the miniature marry go round. This was Caleb's favorite ride.

Playing skee ball (or rather throwing the very hard balls).
Big brother is so sweet to let Caleb drive for his Birthday.
Let's see what this game does.
Caleb trying his hand (literally) at Whac a Mole.
He decided he was better off without the heavy mallet.

I just love these two pictures. Here's Caleb picking on Big Brother.
(Notice Sweet Little Tara just observing it all.)
And Big Brother showing him what it feels like.
And at the end of the day, Caleb got to take home a prize to help commemorate his Birthday.

Baby Terradactyl

Our Sweet little Caleb has developed a new way of communicating with us- I call it the terradactyl screech. Whenever Caleb sees something he wants he gives out a little scream (that sounds remarkably like a terradactyl). And while this has proven to be a quite effective form of communication for him, we are trying to teach him some baby sign language (which doesn't really seem to be catching on at the moment).
Our happy Little Terradactyl.
At first I was quite concerned when Caleb began screeching and squealing to make himself known (it started a little before his first birthday), but I was quickly reminded that this is a normal stage that most little ones go through. And it seems like our little man grew up over night. He went from being very laid back and having no opinion to letting you know what he likes and dislikes. But for now we are just enjoying our sweet little terradactyl and the loud way he communicates with us (because before we know it he'll be talking a mile a minute and his terradactyl days will be a thing of the past.)

Talking with Kay-Kay

I just love these pictures of Joshua Stephen talking with his Kay-Kay.
Joshua Stephen is so expressive and he is always telling great stories and sharing interesting facts with us. He has the cutest little expressions and he is quick to use his hands to emphasize what he is talking about (which makes him seem so grown up).

And our Kay-Kay is one of the best listeners ever. She just loves to talk and engage her boys.
